Sharing the Indian actor, writer, and film producer R Madhavan’s spacious Mumbai apartment is full of unique corners, featuring a hybrid of modern and traditional decor elements, and an organic terrace garden. Let us take a tour!
The living room combines contemporary design with traditional décor. Featuring a floral sofa set and an antique wooden console, the living room creates a mix and match of textures. A vibrant Tanjore painting in maroon, gold, and emerald green stands out above the artfully distressed console, which also showcases several adornments including a Buddha bust.
Statement printed armchairs, a cream tufted couch and a glass-topped coffee table complete the sitting area, along with lots of potted plants and colorful illustrations.
Cream marble floors and ivory walls make the area seem more open and spacious, and glass sliding doors flood the space with natural light. The sheer curtains peep into the adjoining sprawling balcony is full of homegrown vegetables and fruits set up right outside his bedroom.
The living space also includes a fully-stocked bar in one corner, which features dark paneled wood on the walls, floating glass shelves, and pool table right next to the bar.
The dining area champions gold accents. Ornate gold chairs upholstered in a patterned fabric, along with a matching table with a chunky gold base characterizes the dining area. Sliding doors on one side of the dining table open out to a smaller balcony, complete with its own seating area for al fresco dining.
The bathroom is an all-white affair. Falling in line with the aesthetic of his bedroom, the bathroom features pristine white ‘his and hers’ sinks, ivory cabinets, and mosaic-tiled walls. Gilded mirrors and a large window enhance the elegant vibe of the space.
A dark marble Buddha figurine and simple patio furniture create the zen vibe here, making this balcony-cum-garden the ideal spot for outdoor breakfasts and brunches.
